Jane Mowat’s carving has at last been taken  out of the barn and placed in the wood.

It is in it’s proper place and looks great.

It had been put to good use though at some point, as there was a beautiful robin’s nest tucked in between the top of the carving and the barn roof.

It was as though the flight of the carved bird had reached it’s destination and made a home.

Luckily the young had long gone. Maybe last year’s clutch?

Soon we will have Jane’s lovely carved bed back in the wood to join the the tales of the birds and the trees together.

It so lush at the moment. There are more shades of green than can be counted.

Today we are doing emergency tree surgery on the beech avenue as some of the trees have decided, after about 130 years, to give up and die and to offer themselves to as timber.

The dead limbs are big and heavy and arching over or too close to the road.

Always sad to see, but new trees are to be planted in their place.

And on it goes…..
